i grew up watching transformers and reading the comics so even though I knew the story arc had gone out the window, and the awful reviews, i was excited to see age of extinction ... and again i was disappointed. not just by the script and the absence of any story, but the effects ... compared to the other films, i could see the green screening ... i could see it clearly?? 3hrs long? Continuity was *********ing disgraceful. It was rather like watching a rough cut with all the bad bits left in with the majority of the other bits being sort of okay. And ... spoilers maybe, an iconic Decepticon who was reborn looks like a fat chubby dildo version of himself. The corny dialogue ... ruined and overshadowed the very few moments of genius that were there. The female casting that was purely and obviously just eye candy, no substance, nothing only serving the male fantasy of protecting the daughter and girlfriend. (Because a girl needs a dad and a boyfriend, of course they must) The only intelligent female in the cast has only a few lines and subsequently becomes just an extra when the other characters come together. The other female cast member knows martial arts, cause shes Chinese, but to dress up the fact its not a stereotype, she awkwardly puts in and explains when I was a police officer, i was trained cause obviously now shes a ducking investor?? The only thing that was truly gripping was the end, one because your num bum is crying thank duck, its nearly over and two, the possibility of something dark, sad, beautiful and meaningful was going to happen that would of made up for the last two hours ... but no, he didnt die. Whoops spoiler. Happy ducking ending. Lets get shots of the daughters short shorts, kissing the boyfriend with the father looking on, accepting shes all grown up and that they have protected their little princess, while the leader of the autobots pledges to protect the planet but ducks off like super man to find where he comes from. Whoops spoilers. If anything, age of extinction is a great film to watch, on how not to make a film.
