i have been looking through the process of county government development and i must say we have a big problem in Kirinyaga county. First the foundation way are laying for the county is not good at all. I will state a few facts and provide solutions in my view. i) county headquarter project - the project will consume 380 million shillings in a county while we have a more elaborate modern county headquarter built in the 80s, which needed refurbishing to accommodate the county government. ii) The assembly has voted to construct a modern office block with amenities to massage their never ending ego and greed. iii) the grabbing of Kerugoya show ground by unscrupulous thieves for their own use at the expense of Kirinyaga county citizen. My alternative to the above anomalies in development of our county. i) the 380 M use to construct a head quarter should have prioritized construction of a state of the art mid level college to provide skills in Teaching, management, accounting, nursing among other paraprofessional courses. This college would solve the problem of many young form four leavers whose parents cannot afford to get a college where their kids cannot qualify to join universities so they end up becoming local guys with very little productivity i.e. those who attain D+ to C+. This to me is very very urgent in Kirinyaga and the community must identify funding the methods to come up with one. ii) the budget for building offices for the assembly members should be used to develop medical institution to world class instead of making projects to appease individuals at the expense of the larger community. iii) The county government must set a multisecotral committee to probe he grabbing of the Kerugoya stadium by thieves, this i will write to KACCA to open up the matter so that the show ground can be reclaimed and used for the benefit of the farming community in Kirinyaga.
