i know very little about history (thank you shitty yeshiva education) and even less about the details of certain monumental events...as such, i wonder if any anyone can comment on whether after emancipation there were slaves that chose to not leave their masters...i wonder if some newly freed slaves were frightened by the free world that awaited them and opted to remain in servitude and have someone control them...i ask, of course, because that is how i view people that realize that religion is all bullshit but for some reason still remain semi religious...to me these are brain damaged people, they have been abused so much that they are really scared to just tear the bandaid off and start fresh...they chose to remain sheep and make excuses and try and rationalize why they are doing what seems illogical...i cant for a second relate to such behavior and i thus wonder if there have been parallels in history where people have been allowed to enjoy life without restrictions yet have opted to remain in the status quo...any insight is appreciated
