i must tell this....i hate to go to walmart, i know how unamerican can i be? i went after work today and was shopping when i went down one aisle and thought i heard a young couple speaking in french very softly. i tried to be nosey and listen i could not tell for sure. they went one way and i went the other. when i left the store i saw a van with a license plate from Quebec and i thought i am going to ask and the young couple were from Quebec, where they told me it is snowing already. we spoke in french for quite a while and the young man who is a french literature professor told me the greatest compliment which has made my day.. he said your french is very good and a wonderful accent. said i sound french. it may not seem like much to you but to a foreign language teacher it is a compliment when a native says something like that. i invited them to come to my school to speak with my students and we exchanged numbers and i invited them to dinner. they were so very very nice and love it here. they are rock climbers. i am teaching one french class at ohhs and the rest spanish. i like spanish but french is my love and has always been and will always be i think the prettiest language ever. i have several students who seem to love it also. just wanted to share. i hope they take me up on my offer. this would be wonderful for my students to see real french speaking natives.
