i was driving through Illinois today and finally had time to stop and look at an old farm house that I had seen weeks ago... You could tell that it hasnt been lived in for 30 or 40 years.. the windows are busted.. the doors are gone.. To most people it would seem like an eyesore... but as I sat in the middle of the road I studied it..imagined what it used to look like..how many generations of kids let the screen door slam.. how many hands had pumped water from the well outside the backdoor... the house was weathered to a silver finish.the roof was sagging...but the overgrown rosebush out front smelled as sweet as it probably did 50 years ago...Time and progress march ever onward..but how can you appreciate progress without reflecting on the past..
