i was on my way to bed and then i had to wake myself back up because i just got word of a NAACP headquarters being bombed in Colorado earlier today. Thankfully no one was hurt, but do not--DO NOT--ignore this. this is symbolic. this is important. it is two thousand and FIFTEEN and someone has decided that they are going to do something as BRAZEN as attempt to BLOW UP a headquarters of the NAACP. I am INSTANTLY reminded of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in 1963 that left four little black girls DEAD and you should be too. You should remember that bombing, like lynching, was a method used by racists and white supremacists to silence the black community through not only killing its members but instilling FEAR of association with this organizations. One may argue--as is a pattern when white men commit absurd violent crimes--that it was an isolated incident committed by a random rare extremist. However extremists are not random nor rare. The comments Ive seen about the movement online (such as when someone suggested the police turn WATER HOSES [:whispers: symbolisssmmmm] on myself and my fellow protestors last month), the websites for neo-nazis and white supremacists, the threat is REAL. There are people that could decide to take up arms and do just what this fellow (who is to my knowledge not in custody) did in Colorado at any moment. Let us add to the list of Things Black People Have To Be Moderately Fearful Of While Simultaneously Fighting Back Against In 2015 being blown up by white supremacists, we can put it right alongside being shot by the police while unarmed. Whats worse? I havent so much as heard a whisper about this on a single mainstream news site (Im looking at you CNN, dont come talking about fact checking you didnt fact check when you accused Capt. Ron Johnson, member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. of being a gangbanger now did you?) yall...racism is not only alive and well in the United States, but it is BOLD. Black men women and children being killed and NO ONE being held accountable (so you just NOT gonna have a trial?! What?! In reference to Michael Brown Eric Garner and Aiyana Jones), prosecutors admittedly lying to grand jury members and misrepresenting cases (so you KNEW the person wasnt there and you STILL let them in as an eye witness are you SERIOUS? In reference to the Ferguson prosecutor on the case against Darren Wilson), and now people out here trying to blow up and threaten NAACP headquarters?! Anybody ever read if you give a mouse a cookie? every time we ignore, coddle, and justify racism we open the door for bigger, bolder instances of it. God be with us all.
