i wasnt planning on commenting on the Spotify debate as i have split feelings over it and definitely see both sides of the argument - most of all that genie is out of the bottle and it is not about to be put back in. however, these simple words from Marc Ribot in the The New York Times speak to an important aspect of the digital culture and how it affects niche styles. personally im a big believer in the revenue streams for musicians being wider than just from the sales of recorded music. however, i do think theres a need for some balance so that it makes sense for the musicians to create the records. kickstarter is one answer for sure - im curious about your thoughts on others ?
