iPad iOS Coming to TV According to reports, Apple is developing a new version of it Apple TV set-top box that will feature the iOS software that powers the companys popular iPad and iPhone devices. The new version of Apple TV will most likely be unveiled in the first half of this year and may feature an iPhone/iPad-style app store that will allow users to download and run apps directly on their televisions. With the addition of this kind of app store, the Apple TV set-top box will have much more available content. The operating system for the set-top box will be closely related to the familiar iOS system though it may have some differences. Another report, this one from iLounge, claims that Apple TV would be updating its gaming support turning the set into more of a living room-based entertainment system. Many had assumed that Apple would launch a full-fledged television set this time around instead of an updated set-top box. Some still think that the set-top box is still a test project for a full-fledged TV from the tech giant. Though chief executive Tim Cook has called the Apple TV project a hobby for the company, the battle for the living room is heating up. Microsoft and Sonys new gaming consoles are major players in the battle for living room supremacy. Microsofts Xbox One was pushed as an all-around entertainment system, not just another gaming console. Even if Apple TV is still a side project for the tech giant, Apple has been putting significant resources into the set-top boxs development.
