#icebucketchallenge #alsicebucketchallenge #strikeoutals I have no rights to say you’re wrong for disliking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and condemning us who, apparently wasted litres of water when there are water shortage elsewhere. It is your choice, your opinion and your judgement, not mine. Yes, there are many other ways to raise funds and yes, some people did the challenge without knowing what ALS is all about. They just did it because it’s a trend, like how planking was a hit a few years ago. Some did it for fame, desperate to make THE viral video of the year. But think about it, did you know about ALS Association Research Program before the ice bucket challenge? Did you know what ALS was before your timeline was flooded with crazy people dumping ice on themselves? I salute the group of people who thought of this and came up with the challenge to raise awareness and funds for the research program. As of today, they have raised more than $62.5 million and I hope there would be more. For those who think that we should have donated to other research and charity funds, well, I think it’s not nice to prioritize what funds are more important. And look, don’t you think with the ice bucket challenge, it also made these non-supportive people realise there are other campaigns out there? Why not donate the same amount of money to other funds for every condemning post and protest about ALS? Stop challenging and questioning every winning effort. Think of a way to help others, and if you can, start now.
