ill Porter During WW II ?1942, when my Dad was in the Western Desert, (in the Middle East) he found an Afrikaans Bible. For some reason he sent it home to his parents and it has been in our family ever since -72 years!!! It is NOT where it belongs and I am desperate to return it to South Africa...hopefully to the family of the soldier whose Bible it was. We have quite a lot of information about it but despite my attempts via the SA equivalent of the RSA, War archives, TV programmes etc it has not, so far, been possible. What is known? The owner was:- Norman Muller. There is an inscription in it from his Mum. (see picture below)The address is 13 Devonshire Ave, Durban. There looks to be a hospital there now. There are various clippings, Bible notes etc and a memorial notice for a John Charlton Muller (Jack) who was killed in a motor accident September 11, 1935. Signed Maud and boys, Percy and Denis. I am guessing this was his father. If any of this means anything to you please get back to me, or if you have any ways of finding this family please let me know. It would be great if you could share this far and wide in the hope that I can find Normans family and return this Bible to them. I have no idea if he survived the war or not.
