ill try to make this story as short as possible: lady comes in and orders a turkey sandwich, then says okay ill have the turkey club. i tell her we dont have that, its called the cabelas club (half turkey half ham and bacon) she gets rather upset about it but decides to get it. i ask her the standard lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onion? she replies NO! how about some cheese?! -okay maam what kind of cheese would you like? she replies with the cheese shed like, and with quite the attitude what do you put on your club?! -maam i just offered you lettuce tomatoes pickles and onions her response well normally you just put stuff on a club, but what do i know, ive only been working in restaurants for 29 years so i look down, inhale a very deep breath...then i look back at her and say what restaurant do you work in? i forget the name of where she said i reply with oh okay her face lights up have you ever been there? -no maam, ive never even heard of the place and theres a pause so i tell her my credentials i worked at on20 in hartford, and most recently rooftop 120 in glastonbury she gives me a rather stunned look oh you worked at on20.. -yes maam, did you go to school for culinary? quite silently she says no, im a waitress .... she then asks if i have gone, yadda yadda. i really try to be humble because i know im not the best chef in the state, but i dont take attitudes or narcissism politely. hopefully her next encounter with a young cook plays out differently.
