in no way do I support or defend the spying and gathering of information done by the NSA under the Patriot Act ever since 9/11. The program that was started by George W. Bush and continued under Barack Obama is a blight on the 4th amendment. However, as I read the hundreds of rants and rages over it all complaining bitterly about how it is better to have freedom from spying than a violation of our rights, I am left to ponder this. All of these hundreds of thousands of people raising hell now, but how many would be in an uproar and demanding the government do more to protect the country if another 9/11 occurred. The human animal is notoriously fickle and short on memory. No matter how strict the PA processes are. No matter how far PRISM violates our rights, I promise you with absolute certainty that the majority of these outraged citizens would be the first ones demanding more protection from the US Government.
