The Festival Artes Vertentes had its first edition in September of 2012. We managed to bring to Tiradentes (Brazil) a Festival with new conception bringing together 54 artists from 12 countries such as Nelson Freire, Adélia Prado, Antanas Sutkus, Pedro Soler, Thiago de Mello, Tal Nitzan and many many others who came to Tiradentes because they believed in the Festival and in its spirit. The festival happened because of an enormous effort, energy and time investment, friends and small enterprises support. This year we would like to make the second edition of the Festival brining artists from different parts of Brazil and from all over the world. These artists together with the public will try to build the dialog between different form of artistic expression, involving local population, first of all children of the region. Among the artists who will participate at the Festival this year we can name Ferreira Gullar, Ricardo Domeneck, Adélia Prado, Eliane Coelho, Nelson Cruz, Vladimir Lagrange, Angélica Freitas, Maria Saakyan, Julian Arp, Oxana Shevchenko, Dorothy Lenner, Pedro Soler among many others. This year the Festival is expecting artists from 10 different countries. Until this moment the Festival does not have any big sponsor that puts us in a difficult situation: even bringing a beautiful project of a very high artistic level we need financial support to cover the minimum costs of the Festival…We have support from different partners who helped us last year and who will help us this year as well, but this support covers only one part of the total costs of the Festival such as some exhibitions and one part of the airplane tickets for the artists. We still need to bye the resting airplane tickets, we have to rent musical instruments and equipment, we need fundings for the publicity, to prepare and to print graphic materials and we have to pay the assembling crew. We have to pay a pro-labore, even a symbolic one for the artists who have been working for the Festival for the last few months, writing texts and poems, studying new musical pieces, preparing exhibitions and theatre presentations. That´s why we are here, using crowdfunding and asking for the contribution of everyone. We believe that the Arts diffusion depends on every one of us.
