ipcc-wg2.gov/AR5/r/final-drafts/ The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, arguably a highly conservative organization which has consistently underestimated and low-balled practically every prediction it has ever made, now predicts: violent conflict, such as civil wars, alongside the displacement of numerous communities and “We have reasons to believe that if the world doesn’t do anything and the extent of climate change continues to increase, then the very social stability of human systems could be at stake” and “large fraction” of animals and marine creatures also faced an increased risk of extinction over the coming decades. ~but~ by taking immediate steps to reduce carbon emissions over the coming decades, there could be a reduction in potential consequences by the end of the century. So if that is the kind of horror they are predicting, you can take it to Las Vegas that things will get a hell of a lot worse than even that. And as for the by taking immediate action part, my eyeballs reflexively roll back in my head. Because nobody is going to stop driving until they flat out cant, no industrial enterprise is going to compromise anything that risks profits, until they cant. It really is the addicts race into hell. I really wish it wasnt so, and I have done almost everything in my life personally that I can do to mitigate whatever I can. However, in todays paradigm that automatically makes me odd and peculiar...I swear sometimes its like the whole world is living in Jonestown, Guyana .
