That award goes along with many others ranging from the top award for her instrument from the Jazz Journalist Association to being named Chicagoan of the Year by the Chicago Tribune. By adding vibes to her band, Mitchell is off on another new direction that she says gives the band its name and its sound; Ice Crystal!
