it had been 16 years since i was on a college campus as a prospective student. 16 years. sitting in the admissions office at State College of Florida today, i felt nervous and excited. as i waited for the advisor to see me, i had so many feelings come over me. i remembered why i was there in the first place, and that was to finish something that i started so long ago. i thought back to all the things that happened in the 3 semesters i was at Boston University and all the things that have happened to me in the years since i left. and there i was. waiting for my name to be called to start this path again. to make my way towards a degree in the passion that i have found since living a better life almost 3 years ago. my goal in life is to follow my passion and dreams because that is how i will be of maximum use to society. a happier me is a better world. i sat there and felt the emotion come over me. it felt so good to know that i was exactly where i was supposed to be in that moment. a woman came out from a cubicle and looked at the waiting list. Michael? she asked. i raised my hand and shook her hand. we made a plan of attack. i am going to be going to school for my AA and then transfer after i finish to get my bachelors at another university. i start in january. :)
