it is 2 days prior the #Chicago #Marathon and the question of why run 26.2 miles? So why do we run? Counselor Barnette and Teacher Claire Huller will literally run the entire 26.2 mile mission as if they were metaphorically in the historical time and space of the Pullman Porters; by literally existing within the context of “Separate but Equal.” They have literally determined which water stations each will be able to use: meaning African American Barnette will only be allowed to stop for water at the “Colored Only stations and Caucasian Teacher Huller will only be allowed to stop for water at the “White Only” stations. Would you want to exist within a socially constructed world where diversity is categorized and the pure notion of difference could ultimately impact survival? Live and Love one another. Character education is necessary for survival and we must find ways to nurture our society by feeding positive character education into our environment.
