it was a close game with Canada up 5 goals to four and Russia coming very close on many occasions to tying it up, however in the end Canada prevailed winning their first gold medal in six years. both goalies were good but it was Canadas goalie that looked like gold on the ice near the end of the hockey game. i was watching the game very closely especially in the last ten minutes of the 3rd period where i was on the edge of my seat feeling very tense every time team Russia would have a shot on Canadas net. the defense was awesome on both sides and there were not a lot of odd man rushes because every time one team would get the puck the other team would retreat into their own end to defend and stop the attack. it was clear from the beginning of the game that it would be a rough night because after every whistle in the early part of the game team Russia would try and get under the skin of the team Canada players by shoving them. oddly enough their were no major fights in the game. even though team Russia never had a penalty against them they were not very strong when they were up a man as Canada demonstrated how good of a penalty kill they have. team Canada also proved to the whole junior hockey world that they are to be taken seriously by all other teams and players.
