Theyre loath to do so because values like loyalty and respect for the chain of command are part of their makeup. So for General Amos to do it and to do it so publicly indicates to me that that the destruction and damage this president is doing and has done to the nation simply outweighs those traits, and compels him to say his piece. And unlike the situation a few years back when Obama fired Gen. Mcchrystal, when the President still had a bit of credibility in terms of his foreign policy positions, I dont think he has the political capital to get rid of Amos even if he wanted to.
