ive decided to retire the Bathysphere name for several reasons, one being that the material I had been writing for this project transferred to my band Companies and too much of the stuff i had planned to release on my own had begun to form a newer, better life as a group. Bathysphere is a name that can be likened to training wheels, paired with an admiration for Bill Callahan and the ability to make songs on my own. it made sense. but what i didnt realize was that it inhibited my voice and welcomed comparisons to a project that clearly wasnt mine. the choice was simply because of reverence, but the name began to eat at me over the last couple seasons. im not quite ready to explain what Wholebridge Sweet is, considering that im not even sure what it might be. at the moment, i see it as Bathysphere without the narrow lens, but ive had some crazy ideas for its future. for starters, there may be a record in the works (Glow Cold, CA has been scrapped) but one things for sure, ive found a name that lets me be as broad as i want to be.
