just deleted my last post from 4 hrs ago where i was expressing my astonishment and irritation of discovering that the string stems to one of my arrangements that i wrote and recorded were used in a film exec produced by jay z released a year ago, without any credit given to me or heads up from anyone involved... i only became aware of it because a friend recognized an orchestra of miguels when he was watching tv recently. stuff like this happens EVERYDAY with musicians, but that doesnt mean that it is okay. i also did Oprahs main promo for her entire network launch, but the difference was that i received a buyout ahead of time for the track and signed a contract. a sweet message just now from the director of the film in question softened me up a bit. he has my respect. i absolutely wish him and everyone involved well for sure, but i look forward to being more responsible on my end to ensure something like this doesnt happen again. i take full responsibility for my disappointment in this situation::: i deserve to receive residuals for my highly personal work if it is played on tv, no doubt about it. i have spent my entire life sculpting my sound/skills/emotions/intentions. ive been playing violin very earnestly for 30 years now and writing original music for 25. ive stepped up my integrity along the way as well... these points as well as many others make me feel that i deserve to be compensated unless i am consciously volunteering my time, which i love doing when it is with my blessing. we musicians sure are lucky to be able to play music, but i wonder how many people realize how difficult it is to make a living at it, lol!!!!!! wow..... we artisans GREATLY appreciate all of the love and support so many of you have given to so many of us for years and years. THANK YOU!!!!!!! we LOVE you!!! i sure have a lot to learn and i plan to do so everyday AND enjoy the process. RESPECT and LOVE to EVERYONE at all times! wishing EVERYONE profound success in all of your endeavors! sending strength, compassion and wisdom towards you and your path:::)))
