just got this from playwright Hal Corley about The Speech ... made my day Its a very smart and effective piece of filmmaking, like a perfect short story, so carefully calibrated by all collaborators to serve the length, while (tech and otherwise) still looking and sounding like a fully realized feature. Some of these small canvas films make the common (to my eye) mistake of trying to be epic in a short time. They come off a bit like parodies of longer films, even when well done. Yours is radically the opposite, and has that subtle beginning at the end component, starting very late so we get a sense of lives/relationships told in shorthand that still manages to feel complete and unrushed, no small accomplishments. And these are two very strong acting performances, ones that have all the components of not only film but theater. The Speech adds much to your resume, writing, producing, an earned triple threat title the result. Congratulations again.
