just posted this comment on news24: Simon, No the big losers are all the economies of the world and their middle and lower classes. The republicans were wrong to approach things the way they did, but the Democrats are wrong to raise the national debt to unsustainable levels. The US is fast approaching a time when their debt will overwhelm them and then we will have a worldwide financial meltdown that will make the recession of 08 look like a minor hiccup. Then it will be the lower and middle classes around the world that will suffer. The wealthy will be insulated, but if that happens pensions of the middle class will disappear around the world. Investments will become worthless and we will see real poverty. Yes the Tea Party did a stupid thing. But to simply say as Simon said; your fault, is short sighted. As foolish as they looked they were sounding a warning that no one else was willing to sound. When national debt approaches annual GDP you arent far from disaster. Oh, Simon one last thing; read Thomas Sowells 10/04/13 article. He is a Harvard and University of Chicago economist, you might be surprised on how the US House, Senate, and Executive branch really works, according the Constitution. Oh, one more thing.
