just saw Monuments Men and out of 5 stars I must give it 2 1/2. Acting was so-so except for Kate Blanchett. I wanted to see more about how the germans hid it and what the MM went through to find it. Its a great story that deserved better than this. I did read the book and it was outstanding. There were some quite good scenes with bill Murray and the short Jewish actor (forgot his name). But my biggest complaint is that it seemed Clooney insisted on it being a quasi- comedy. Too many attempts to end too many scenes with a gag. Its a serious story about a segment of a tragic war, not a comedy. Im afraid the reason its gotten so much pre-release pub is because they want to make as much money the opening weekend before the reviews come out and word of mouth spreads. Sorry to spoil it. Would like your take.
