l am listening today to a short Webinar in NE on attracting customers to our businesses! We may not be heavily into tourism here, but we do get tourists. Getting them off the beaten path and catering to those that travel back roads. Listed here is the speakers agenda: Attracting Tourism Customers 1. Tourism is Big Business in Nebraska 2. Become involved in your community, chamber, and various community groups 3. Visit your local attractions, talk to their staff & learn about them 4. Visit your local businesses where tourist stop – talk to staff Convenient Stores & Truck Stops Restaurants & Fast Food Businesses Lodging – hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts & campgrounds 5. Host open house for local attractions & businesses that cater to tourist (e.g.those mentioned above) Always with food, people come for food; also consider a discount on your products if they buy during the open house 6. Are you along a Byway?(or within the 20 mile corridor; 20 miles on either side of the byway); join the Byway; attend their meetings and volunteer 7. Invite Nebraska Tourism staff to stop and see your business and learn about your business and/or products
