last week i chanced upon some Nigerian kwa mat who was doing some aggressive marketing on behalf of Winners Chapel..i was dis-interested initially but you know Nigerians..he left me a flyer and asked me to attend a service at their church along Mombasa Road..so jana mimi na akili zangu nikajipeleka huko...i will never go back there again.all that was preached there was prosperity gospel..how to get rich..how to make money..the place is a bedlam of noise..the singing is loud and chaotic..people pray hard till they go into a trance..i almost thought i was in some Haitian vodoo ceremony..one hour into the service i got bored and got out but getting out is not that easy in that fortified building..the ushers pounced upon me and forcefully urged me to go back coz the service was not yet over..i had to literally yank them off me and dashed out of the gate to freedom with some dude with a heavy Nigerian accent in hot pursuit..i had to hang on the tail gate of a speeding pickup truck to save myself.e this morning i spot the hawk-eyed Nigerian guy at my local matatu terminus...so i employ my primitive CIA tactics i learnt in those Fredrick Forsyth and Robert Ludlum spy books to shake him off..
