lets talk about the commentary situation for top 8 at APEX. this seems like the first time in a while that there is significant controversy over commentary since toph at salty suite (which was a non-issue, honestly, and he more than proved himself as a capable commentator throughout 2014). james chen doing melee at EVO 2013 also brought up some discussion, but the organizers wanted to have someone more recognized in the FGC and people understood that. given that melee will once again be the focal point of APEX, drawing the largest amount of players compared to any other game and occupying the prime time stream slot on sunday, is Diem really the person who should be representing the community on such a stage, especially when there are other community mainstays who have been providing commentary throughout the year. i personally had never heard any of the guys melee commentary until tipped off 10 (which you can find on youtube) and it seems like your typical e-sports play-by-play commentary, but reading some of his tweets and just general demeanor does not exactly sit well with me. examples (tinyurl/pahrtec). lets keep it civil.
