► little, a little, the little ◄ These determiners are used with uncountable nouns. • little - It means not much or only slightly. It gives negative sense. For example: 1. There is little milk in the jug, so she can not make a cup of tea. 2. I have little money, so I can not give you. 3. She is seriously ill. There is little hope that she will survive. Note- The words can not in first example, can not in second example and seriously ill in third example give negative sense. • a little - It means not much or only slightly. It gives positive sense. For example: 4. There is a little milk in the jug. You can make two cups of tea. Note- The word can make gives a positive sense in fourth example. • the little - It means whole which has done/spent/used.. etc. Lets see examples. For example: 5.
