#loksattanow #LSP4Change Here are Loksattas recommendations to Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Bill proposing to amend the Prevention of Corruption Act. The law should provide for time-bound justice and day-to-day trials. The definition of corruption must be widened to include gross perversion of the Indian Constitution,abuse of authority to favour, etc. A distinction must be made between extortionary corruption and collusive corruption. In collusive corruption, the burden of innocence should be shifted to the accused. The law should be amended to provide for a long .. prison term, mandatory sentencing and confiscation of all assets of the guilty. There should be automatic prosecution in cases of graft or disproportionate assets without any need for prior Govt sanction. Bribe givers b protected in cases of extornairy corruptn,else no 1 will come fwd 2 file complaints and corruptn will continue unabated. Competitive bidding must be made mandatory for allocation of all natural resources.
