***lucia*** In Owen Armstrong, we have an individual with an ostensible Explosive Personality Disorder. On the surface, he seems to cope with daily pressures but he is quickly triggered and reverts to a style of verbal and physical aggressive behaviour. He has a pattern of confronting and threatening other characters. Yet he is dedicated to his children but his bond with his daughters seems to be expressed in a controlling fashion with all or none virtual indictments. His controlling personality extends to his business dealings in that he is clearly hard to work for over a long period of time. Owen’s involvement with Anna Windass is one of his better decisions in that he has the potential to model appropriate behavior and observe the development and maintenance of her relationships which might have a vicarious benefit for him. Yet he tends to jeopardize that relationship by his previously discussed pattern of behavior. He holds grudges and currently is having a major problem in dealing with Faye’s biological father who at this point is still a character in development. In conclusion, Owen is his own worst enemy. He lacks the composure and insight to thwart his own urges to overreact and leaves his social terrain pot-holed and uncertain.
