Nearly all of the “research” written about Vodoun theology, ritual and practice, authored by outside “researchers” and observers; invariably conclude that the [[Vodoun] tradition is a “mixture” of “foreign influence”, ranging from Judaism, Catholicism, Islam ect. Few really understanding that Vodou is first and foremost an “experiential” tradition. Meaning that it is the Spirits and Ancestor’s DIRECT who interact and dictate theology, customs, taboos, atonement etc.,. Further, those who conclude this, fail to understand the obvious . . . namely, that Vodou is composed of ritual, cultural, historical, ethnic and theological components, of the many ANCESTRAL descendants who are the actual FOUNDERS, owners and propagators of what are now repackaged (and are considered) “foreign” religions. For example, Mama Tchamba is literally an (underworld Diaspora) Ancestral community composed of the ancient descendants as far away as Nubia (Sudan),Kemet, Arabia, Yemen, Niger, ancient Ghana, etc.,. All bringing and preserving elements of what remained of Kemet, so-called “Hebrewism, Judaism, Islam, etc., Their related taboos, ancient rites and theology is still extant for them and their descendants who reconnect back with them. Finally, many Africans enslaved in America came over already apart of these Ancestral clan systems, but are no longer aware. In time, many will put the pieces together. For they, (just as we) have literally been scattered to every corner of the globe. This article could have been written much more in-depth, but time does not permit.
