#maraudermoment Monday: Today, after a journey of 10 months and 442 million miles, the MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution) spacecraft entered the atmosphere of Mars, where it will orbit the Red Planet collecting environmental and climate data to help scientists better understand how Mars became cold and barren. NASAs lead project manager for the MAVEN mission is St. Joes graduate David Mitchell 80, of the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.
