my "fitted wrist warmer" for small, medium, large for 12 inches while flat. start with a K hook: Make a foundation row of 20, 22, 24 in half double crochet (chain two, yo, pick up stitch on first chain, yo, put through one loop, yo, pull though one loop, yo, pull through three loops. notice stack of three loops in post with a 4th staggered to left, that 4th is your working stitch. stitches 2 to 20,22,24. yo, pick up 4th staggered stitch, yo, pull through that 4th stitch, yo, pull through one loop, you, pull through 3 loops. this row and only this row, chain three to turn, (normal turning chain for half double crochet is 2) half double crochet (yo, pick up stitch, yo, pull through stitch, yo, pull through three loops) for three rows. row 5: switch to J hook row 5 to 8 half double crochet in J hook row 9: half double crochet to just before halfway mark (9,10,11). yo, pull up next stitch (10th, 11th, 12th) and pull through stitch, pull up next stitch, yo, pull through 4 loops on hook. half double crochet to end of row. row 10 to 12 half double crochet as normal. (rows are now 19, 21, and 23 stitches) row 13: same as row 6 row 14 to 16: half double crochet as normal (rows are now 18, 20, and 22 stitches) row 17: half double crochet to just before halfway mark (8,9,10) you, pull up next stitch (9,10,11) and pull through stitch, pick up next stitch, yo, pull through 4 loops on hook, half double crochet to end. stitches are now (17, 19, 21) row 18 to 26, half double crochet. finish off leaving very long tail (roughly three times the length of the wrist warmer) fold in half, using long tail sew down 1.5 inches down. leave a gap of 1.5 inches for the thumb (reinforce top and bottom hole openings) and sew the remaining way down. weave in ends and voila. make another one in same size.
