my friend savina vaccinated her dog yesterday and she (the dog) had a seizure. thoughts? heres her post: Savina Saving Paws Rescuenaina 11 hours ago near Grand Island, NY. My dog had vaccines today. Rabies, distemper and kennel cough. She just had a 10min seizure. She was just laying there and suddenly I noticed her breathing had changed. She tried to sit up but was shaking, and lip smacking. I could feel her heart rate and respirations go up. This lasted about 3 minutes. She was incontinent of urine, and vomited. Then she started turning to one side, and lost all balance and had convulsions. I called the vet to see if I could give her valium. They said No, its a controlled substance and we cant recommend it. So I rephrased with if I brought her in, what would you do? their reply: give valium. are you fing kidding me???? They recommended I bring my 73lb dog, who cant walk IN so they could give valium. I was pissed. They also said theyve NEVER heard of any vaccines causing seizures. So far everything Ive read about distemper is the exact opposite. Zoe has had seizure two other times, and that was after Advantix. At the time I inquired about that i was told Oh, NO, that doesnt cause seizures, its a coincidenece. Today when I mentioned it to the vet, he said that was probably from the permithin component hmmm....interesting. OK dog friends...do you vaccinate your dogs on a regular basis?
