my schedule mom for band camp : SCHEDULE NOTE: Schedule subject to change. » Click Here to download/print band camp schedule (PDF) CHECK IN AND AUDITIONS Campers will check-in and audition beginning at 8:00am Monday, July 14th at the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort. Following check-in, they will be directed to a warm-up room, and then to their audition. Audition rooms are posted throughout the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort. Counselors will be on hand to assist. Specialists on each instrument will hear each camper’s individual audition. Based on this audition, each camper will be placed in the ensemble best suited for his/her playing ability. Please remember that all of our campers are outstanding musicians and are often the top players from their schools. As a result, camp is often a “little fish-big pond” experience. Audition results are carefully tabulated and checked by humans and computers. Band assignments will not be altered. Campers are encouraged to contact their parents with their band placement results. For auditions, students will play selected scales and will be asked to sight read a short piece. Students may also play a short excerpt from something they have prepared; however, a prepared piece is not required. It is not necessary to memorize any of the audition music. While students audition, parents should wait in the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort lobby, where you may visit with camp staff, pick up camper information, (room assignments, maps, etc.). Parking for camp check-in will be in the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort Garage. See the hotel map provided at hiorlando for directions. Luggage should remain in the car until after the completion of camp check-in and auditions. Following auditions: **Residential campers will proceed to Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort for move-in. (see directions below) **Commuter campers are will wait in the holding area until 10:15am General Meeting. **ROOM MOVE-IN FOR RESIDENTIAL CAMPERS After auditions, parents and campers will check in at the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort for Room Move-In. At the camp move-in, each camper will be given a room key. It is important that campers keep track of this item. Key replacement is at the expense of the camper. Camp administrative staff and/or counselors will be on hand at Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney Resort Commons Area to answer any questions and provide directions. Once the camper is settled in his/her room, parents are encouraged to depart campus. All residential campers have a floor meeting with their counselors at 6:00pm. SOLOS WITH ACCOMPANIMENT MUSIC and COACHING We will have an excellent pianist with us throughout the week and students are encouraged to bring their accompaniment music for any solos they may be preparing for college auditions or competitions. COMMUTER SCHEDULE On Monday-Friday, commuter campers will report to the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort at 8:15a.m. Drop-off point is the Lobby of the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort. Campers MUST check in with their counselor upon arrival and departure. Parents are asked to remain with camper until counselor is present at 8:15 a.m. Monday through Friday, commuter campers will depart the Holiday Inn in the Walt Disney World Resort Lobby. CAMP CHECK-OUT All campers must check out of their rooms (with counselor inspection) following lunch and prior to the final performances. Parents may pick up their camper at check-out if they collect their belongings at that time and have the camper at the Waterside Stage by 11:30pm (performance is at 12:00pm). DAILY SCHEDULE MONDAY – 14th 8:00am – Check in and Auditions (After your audition please wait in the designated area.) 10:15am – General Meeting and Audition Results 11:00am – Sectionals and Warm-ups 12:00pm – Lunch 1:30pm – Band Rehearsal 4:00pm – Commuters leave for home. Free time for students at the Resort. 5:00pm – Dinner for campers 6:00pm – Floor Meeting with Counselor 7:00pm – Movie Night with Ice Cream 11:00pm – Lights Out TUESDAY – 15th 6:30am – (optional) – Mornings with Katrina: Exercise to start the day 8:00am – Breakfast – all campers must attend 8:30am – Section Warm-ups 9:00am – Band Rehearsal 12:00pm – Lunch 1:30pm – Masterclasses (Woodwind, Brass, Percussion) 2:30pm –Elective 1 (Performance Practice, Chamber Music, Theory and College Prep) 2:30pm –Elective 2 (Jazz Theory & Improvisation) 4:00pm – Commuters leave for home or stay for Magic Kingdom. Free time for students at the Resort. 5:00pm – Dinner for campers 6:15pm – Load Bus for Magic Kingdom. Bus leaves at 6:30pm 7:00pm – Magic Kingdom – Drop off 11:00pm – Magic Kingdom – Pick Up: 1180 Seven Seas Dr, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830 11:30pm – Drop off at Hotel. Students to rooms and lights out. Commuters leave for home. WEDNESDAY – 16th 6:30am – (optional) – Mornings with Katrina: Exercise to start the day 8:00am – Breakfast – all campers must attend 8:30am – Section Warm-ups 9:00am – Band Rehearsal 11:00am – Lunch 12:30pm – Masterclasses (Woodwind, Brass, Percussion) 1:30pm – Elective 1 (Performance Practice, Chamber Music, Theory and College Prep) 1:30pm – Elective 2 (Jazz Theory & Improvisation) 3:00pm – Early dinner. All Students get ready for Disney Hollywood Studios or Commuters leave for home. 4:15pm – Load Busses for Disney Hollywood Studios . Bus leaves at 4:30pm. 5:00pm – Disney Hollywood Studios – Drop Off 9:00pm – Pick up at Disney Hollywood Studios: 351 S Studio Dr, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830 9:30pm – Drop off at hotel. Commuters leave for home 11:00pm – Light out. THURSDAY – 17th 6:30am – (optional) – Mornings with Katrina: Exercise to start the day 8:00am – Breakfast – all campers must attend 8:30am – Section Warm-ups 9:00am – Band Rehearsal 12:00pm – Lunch 1:30pm – Masterclasses (Woodwind, Brass, Percussion) 2:30pm – Elective 1 (Performance Practice, Chamber Music, Theory and College Prep) 2:30pm – Elective 2 (Jazz Theory & Improvisation) 4:00pm – Commuters leave for home. Commuters may attend the social at 7:00pm. Free time for campers. 5:00pm – Dinner for campers 7:00pm – Music / Social at Holiday Inn — No transportation needed 11:00pm – Lights Out FRIDAY – 18th 6:30am – (optional) – Mornings with Katrina: Exercise to start the day 8:00am – Breakfast – all campers must attend 8:30am – Band Rehearsal 10:00am – Check Out (students may leave with their parents at check out as long as they arrive at 11:30am to the Waterside performance location) 10:45am – Load Busses to Downtown Disney. PICK UP YOUR BOX LUNCH PROVIDE BY HOTEL. Downtown Disney web address: https://disneyworld.disney.go 11:00am – Downtown Disney – Drop Off 11:30am – All musicians must be at the Waterside Stage for roll call. 12:00pm – Performance at Downtown Disney at the WATERSIDE STAGE (map on website) Dress Code for Performance: Students can wear shorts and T-shirt and can be comfortable in the outdoor weather. (In the event of inclement weather the performance may be moved to the Holiday in Resort). 1:30pm – Performances finish and students are free to enjoy Downtown Disney 3:00pm – Downtown Disney – Pick up: 1650 Buena Vista Dr., Pleasure Island, FL 32830 3:15pm – Parents arrive to pick up campers. As soon as students return from Downtown Disney, they can obtain their luggage from the Holiday Inn Resort secure room, check out with their counselors and leave with their parents. Note: Students must check out with the Gator Bands staff before they leave with their parents. This procedure is mandatory to ensure our staff can confirm that the student is accounted for at all times and that they have been picked up by their parents or guardian. 3:45pm – Gatorland Band Camp concludes and all students have been picked-up!
