#myweekinmusic Last Tuesday seems like a month ago, Labor - TopicsExpress

#myweekinmusic Last Tuesday seems like a month ago, Labor Day weekend will do that. Here is a recap of my week. Wednesday we played our first ever Wal Mart parking lot. We opened for country up and comer Charlie Worsham. It was a Star 96.3 show and we got to hang out with our old friend Abby Rhodes. Charlie is probably the nicest national act I have ever met, and one hell of a guitar player. Mark and I hung out with he and his band on their bus after the show, (which was formerly Brad Paisley’s bus, needless to say, it was pretty nice.) We drank a lot of WheelHouse Whiskey, and a good time was had by all. Thursday Mark, Kenny and I traveled to DeKalb, IL to play a pregame show at Northern Illinois University. My old friend Ryan Sedivie is an associate athletic director there and brought us down to play the inaugural tailgate party at The Yard. I think we are good luck, as the Huskies won 55-3. Friday we traveled down to Chicago to play a Shiner show at McGee’s. We met some cool people and drank lots of Shiner beer. Someday they will have I-90 finished, but by then, they will need to start all over again. Saturday was one of the best show days of the summer. We played the Taste of Madison on the Q106 stage. Huge thanks to Super Dave Ogden, Ashley Kix and the crew for having us play. The crowd was amazing, we played a killer set, and I left a gallon of sweat on stage. I also finally got to hit a gong on stage, so I can check that off my bucket list (check my fb page for the video.) The guys from Gloriana and David Fanning were super nice, and once again, much WheelHouse Whiskey was consumed. That evening we went down to Libertyville, IL to play at one of our favorite venues, Mikey Finn’s Brewery. Brian Grano runs a great place and has become a good friend over the years. We are looking forward to coming back twice in the coming months. Sunday we took the long way from Libertyville to Benton for their annual Labor Day Street Dance. We had to cut our set a bit short due to the threatening weather, but it was a great show nevertheless, and the fastest tear down and pack up ever! They say that Labor Day is the end of summer, but with so many great shows upcoming, I can’t help but feel like we should give summer just a few more weeks. Hope to see you this week at Rabbipalooza, Badgerville and Red Rock! (here are some of my fav pics from the weekend!)
