name a child or a person who does not have special needs. We are all in process! and what I have to remind myself is that the process can take a very meandering path. Personally, I would like to remove the words progress and perfection from the educational and human vocabulary. We are not widgets to be manufactured on a timeline conveyor belt. We are amazing beings . To be honest, it can be very hard living with acute needs whether it is autism, or PTSD, or other health or mental or emotional challenges. What I found living with these conditions was releasing all expectations on a daily basis for things to be different than they are in ay moment. Relaxing in what is was the most effective, but I was rarely good at it and ended up exhausted with frustrated or even disappointed expectations that thy way it was in this moment was never going to change. the truth is, everything always does change. That is the nature of life. Once I learned to relax into the moment of what is, everything seemed to be easier. The less I reacted, the less their seemed to be a need to react. We live in relationship. And for better or for worse most relationships require us to learn navigational skills that at times seem more than we can bear. But somehow, most of us do make it through. There arent any easy answers one size fits all. There are some guides that can help, but it is our own journey and it is a journey we can learn from, can learn compassion from, if we choose to.
