nice neighbor just popped in (i am dressed like a mental patient and think that i neglected to brush my teeth today...but, ok) to ask me something- where she observed jack sitting in his bouncy seat like a budda with his bottle propped up on a folded blanket and aimed at his gob so that he can eat and i can do the thousands of other things that i have to do and cant because captain useful doesnt hold his own bottle yet. she has but one adorable and well-behaved child and has, clearly, never seen this little maneuver before. she was tactful, but clearly a bit horrified. am glad that she did not walk in fifteen minutes earlier to hear me instruct emily to stop picking her sisters nose and go read her vocab words to the dog, as i am emailing a client and he is too old to walk away from her. glad that she will not be here later to watch me use the kids pineapple juice to mix with my vodka. glad that moms everywhere dont have to be perfect- just good enough.
