not sure where this is going or if it gets there, but heres a couple of quick thoughts: Obvs OK Cupid doesnt have the same scruples about exploitation and property. Only disparities in rights provoke such indignation. Formal equality in relationships, even formal equality in labour rights, no doubt are also dear to the ample heart of OK Cupid. Presumably cos rights are an integral part of the business of creating love. Its the newest, and possibly the last, product of capitalism, right? When you are simply selling people back to themselves you must claim to be *creating* something, and what one is creating here is of course that most intangible and expansive of expansive intangibles, the uber-immaterial commodity, Love. Like the Jubilee, the Olympics, or the next inter-imperialist war, you can bet well be doing it for love - certainly not for money. Money is something one *gives* to websites in gratitude for creating love. Labour is something one gives in return for the promise of love at some future date. Its a coherent system. But equality must prevail, in the name of love. In the name of equality, money will be made out of love. And love will be made out of making money. We will make love out of money for money in the hope of future love.
