...of seeing the face of God in every person. michaelcollopyphotography Went to a fascinating presentation by a long time shooter Michael Collopy at a Glaziers event. Recounted so many stories of shooting celebs from Frank Sinatra, Red Skeleton, and Ray Charles to current public icons. Google image his name to get a better sense of his range than even his website shows. He stated, the riches to be found in shooting photography are in the relationships formed through that interaction… essentially in the wealth of friendships. Took a bunch of notes,… Frank Sinatra, “Live each day like it’s your last kid, cause one of these days… it will be.” Asked one of Ray Charles’s chorus girls what it took to be a Raylette? She replied very matter of fact,“ To be a Raylette, you gotta let Ray.” When buying ice cream with Robert Redford at a small shop in Montana, the woman ahead of him got so flustered he was standing just behind her,… when she paid for her cone, she put both her change and the ice cream cone into her purse. Then she came back into the shop asking if she’d forgotten her change and cone, whereupon Redford told her where they both were... in her purse. The Dalai Lama while visiting with terminally ill children offered them the comforting words,”Death is nothing to be afraid of…” He likes to ask photographers, “How does my hair look?” And yeah, he’s totally bald… Nelson Mandela,”By loving my enemies, it ruins their reputation.” Of all the presidents, world leaders, entertainment stars, and mega celebrities, he spent the most time reminiscing about hanging out with the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa. She became like a 2nd mother to him over the years he’d see her on visits to Calcutta. He said she had the unique ability,... of seeing the face of God in every person.
