oh i forgot to mention this, but as i waited in the lobby for my interview today, i caught eyes with a woman in a wheelchair. i did the awkward thing and looked away quickly, because well thats just who i am. Then she said something, she said quietly can you help me? i didnt quite hear her at first, her condition obviously effected her speech. then she said, im not sure, im supposed to be here. I suspected she was a resident at a nursing home. I asked her where she was supposed to be, she said she is supposed to be at the dermatologist. I told her that she was at the ophthalmologist, i asked her her name and checked with the receptionist to see if she had an appointment there, the receptionist came out and talked to her, sure enough she wasnt even a patient there at all. some one had just come by and dropped her off then left. at the nursing home where i work we often take residents to appointments, but we send an employee with them. I did what i could for the lady, she thanked me, but i wish i had asked about it as i left, i would have liked to know how that all played out. I didnt even think to look whether or not she was in the lobby still as i left. hope she made it where she was going, and i hope that this was simply a one in a million error and that there arent nursing homes operating like this on a regular basis every where.
