ok, I got tagged in the book thing, thanks Arturo Romero, heres some important books I probably would be dead without. Cennino D Andrea Cennini. The Craftsmans Handbook. The Italian Il Libro dell Arte. Translated by Daniel V. Thompson this incredibly difficult to read book taught me universal ideas of artistry that are as old as the hills of Florence Route 666: On the Road to Nirvana by Gina Arnold amazon/Route-666-Nirvana-Gina-Arnold/dp/0312093764/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1410282107&sr=1-4&keywords=gina+arnold I kind of thought I was alone in my critical assessment and enjoyment of my own generations music until I read this. Cosmopolitan: A Bartenders Life Paperback by Toby Cecchini I was given this book by Kelly Keller when I started bar tending, I think that if you are gonna bar tend or understand bar culture this is a good place to start. Létranger by Albert Camus Of Human Bondage (Bantam Classics) by W. Somerset Maugham A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce Maldoror and the Complete Works of the Comte de Lautréamont the first three here are books I read in high school, and I would say helped my define why I was so strange (and a stranger to everything) I would recommend them to any weird teenager, I also kept a copy of Catcher In The Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird and Zen and The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance but I assume kids can find those on their own. The last didnt find me until I was 30, but it applies categorically Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk Paperback by Legs McNeil, Gillian McCain amazon/Please-Kill-Me-Uncensored-History-ebook/dp/B00F21WW6W/ref=dp_kinw_strp_1 this one confirmed and denied popular stories about all of my favorite bands, bonus points for MC5,Stooges and Dead Boys parts. Its the A#1 book I would recommend as a music book The Guitar Handbook Paperback by Ralph Denyer all the facts, in one place. Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud I would generally say that Frank Millers Dark Knight or Watchmen or Nexus or many other comic book compendiums were more important to me growing up, but this made me realize that everyone else didnt see comics the way I do, so in many ways this is a more valuable book. bonus The Formula Handbook, The Giving Tree, Maus, Escaping the delta: The Robert Johnson story, All Over But The Shouting, amazon/My-Time-Prince-Dez-Dickerson/dp/1930575491
