ok...so. Wouldnt it be kind of a kick to have some French Onion Soup? Ya! now that you said those words, my mouth is watering! Travel up to local very old school restaurant where we have heard through the grapevine that the french onion soup is the best EVER. Red Leatherette booths. Heavy wooden chairs and tables. Greek/Italian comfort. Order a 1/2 carafe of white - local. Easy and good. Order our soups, and garlic prawns BAKED IN CHEESE!! Sipping our wine (in Normal size glasses), and Jorm makes an interesting observation. The music. We are sitting in a restaurant that caters to an older crowd. Lets call it like it is. Seniors. It is White Rock, and we live in the old part of town. They are our peeps! But...the music! What the heck?? This isnt seniors music?! Riders on the Storm - The Doors; While You See a Chance - Stevie Winwood; Like a Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan; Ride My See-saw - Moody Blues; Montery - Eric Burdon.... Surely Seniors would find these hip tunes kind of annoying? Wouldnt they rather be listening to Frank Sinatra? Perry Como? Harry Belafonte?? And then...there was that moment of awareness. Shitballs! WE are the Seniors!! How the Heck? and what in Tarnation??!!! Yup...we can get the discount, and we were groovin to the music!! They still have Zucchini Sticks, Weiner Shnitzel, Escargot and Highballs on the menu! None of which are on my immediate ordering list, but Wow, this is where I come from. For those of you who are out our way - we will gladly meet you there for an early evening supper. We can keep it light...order from the Seniors menu!
