okay, so, there seems to be a real imbalance between the huge amount of newsfeed items (ugh) and updates posted about the homophobia-motivated assault in philly last week and a perceived lack of continued concern about the racially motivated murder of michael brown in ferguson, missouri a little over a month ago. folks turn out in full force when white men are under attack; in the aftermath of the philly gay-bashing, internet strangers became twitter detectives, warrants have been issued for attackers arrests and theres already new legislation coming forward to expand hate crimes criteria. meanwhile, michael browns memorial was burned down yesterday, his killer has not been charged with murder or any crime whatsoever and is still on police payroll, the ferguson/st. louis police are still brutalizing the people they are meant to protect, and law enforcement agencies throughout the country continue their extermination order on black people. somehow, major media coverage has moved on and there is comparatively little to say about it....hmm....
