one of the funniest reviews i have read in a long time.. :D for Happy new year. Happy New Year is the embodiment of what keeps bollywood behind. It’s typical Farah khan nonsense, all show and no go. Toss in a litany of stale jokes, the likes of which would embarrass a compulsive whatsapp forwarder. This is cinema pandering to the absolute lowest common denominator, with almost no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Charlie (SRK), is a multi talented….. something. He wants to avenge his father, who was killed by Jackie Shroff. He feels the best way to inflict pain on his fathers killer is to steal his diamonds. These particular diamonds are from the time of the mughals, worth over 300 cr. Nobody can pull off a heist single handedly, and so Charlie needs a team. He decides to collect some losers to fill his squad. These ‘losers’, including the likes of Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan, Vivaan Shah and Deepika Padukone, must quickly learn to dance in sync so they can pull of the world’s biggest heist. If you’re confused by this, don’t blame yourself. This utterly nonsensical plot is an insult to the viewers. Happy New Year would’ve been a much better movie if it had aped Ocean’s 11 completely. Unfortunately, we’re left with an absolute mess of a plot that barely serves as a cover for all the singing and dancing. SRK fans will no doubt get a kick out of this movie, and rightly so, but for those who have not sworn their allegiance to him, they can give this a miss.
