oookay so this was a few days ago and I tried to get it off my mind. Since that didnt work, Im getting it out of my system. Sorry its a little long. Heres the deal. I love the fact that I am Indian. I am a proud Indian and I dont have a problem with other Indian as well (most of the time). But some people just manage to make me feel like being Indian is just horrible. This one particular girl I met at an event recently happens to be one of them. This is what happened. I approached the place this girl was at as I had left something behind and I thought that I had left it there, so I asked her in if she saw my stuff around. This is the thing, I dont know why but I think she has a problem with English. Either that or she really doesnt like me and that is really weird because she doesnt know me at all. Aaanyway, instead of giving me a straight answer, she starts imitating me (or she tried) with an exaggerated accent that I think was supposed to be British *major fail*. She doesnt just stop with 1 sentence either. I literally had to bite my tongue to keep from saying something really rude but I couldnt let it slide either so I say Im glad you think I sound like that. Lame but I was so mad I couldnt come up with anything else. I had meant for that *hopefully* sarcastic comeback to be a little shove for her to realize that what she did was so not cool but I kinda doubt she got the message. I later realized that I am genuinely happy that she thought I sounded like that. When I spoke to her, I was just being myself. I wasnt trying to impress anyone so I didnt have a reason to fake an accent. I am just really blessed to have grown up amongst people who bothered to try and master English so if I sound like I have an accent, then amen for that. So I would like to thank that Indian girl for helping me realize how blessed I am. N just because I choose not to, does not mean I cannot speak Tamil. I speak good enough Tamil that I will surely be able to survive in India and I know for a fact that I will also survive in America and the UK without sticking out like a sore thumb. Will you? A little piece of advice, please try not to be rude when you speak to people. Not everyone would attempt to be nice despite how you treat them. I know this for a fact because I have friends who managed to come up with a bunch of colourful words for you when I told them what you did =P
