origin story: a few years ago i was driving my parents car to minimum wage temp jobs that i was trying desperately (and failing) to keep. this lasted a long time and, i think if i were being honest with myself, id given up on breaking out of that cycle and was convinced i would still be doing that today. so even though i find myself complaining about just the pettiest things sometimes, i am perma-grateful to have what i have. the fact that i find myself in a position where i can negotiate a salary and be asked by a vice president if theres anything they can do to keep me from leaving is just stupid. this is because of state street, who hired me when no one else would. its my last day here and im super thankful to them. will i miss it? no. but ill miss the coworkers and cool bosses ive had. i dont want to be a fund accountant for too much of my life, but i am constantly conscious of how lucky i am to have the opportunity to work too much at anything. so remember me not for messing up all my work today by signing 2014. remember me for having my face buried in my phone most of the time.
