Boys went to live with the monks in the Pagodas to receive a basic education and girls got nothing at all. Eventually between 1931 and 1974 some schools were built in urban areas such as Phnom Penh and Battambang, but there were very few teachers to work in them. Then between 1975 and 1979 the Pol Pot regime wiped out every single school and targeted teachers to be killed. So once again Cambodia was send back to the dark ages. Now we are trying in 3 provinces (and soon to in a 4th) to provide a high quality education in many subject areas in our 4 schools, with a 5th school currently being built. We have 1441 students enrolled and growing by the month. We believe that education is the key for kids to grow and reach their full potential and also for their villages and local areas to benefit greatly from this. The biggest challenge for us is to gain continual monthly donations. 100% of all donations go directly to our teachers salaries and students school supplies and needs. Our admin costs (which are only 5% of our monthly costs) are covered by myself, so your donation will never be used for anything except our teachers and students needs.
