parkrun Report – Saturday 24th May 2014: There were perfect conditions around the Bristol area for Saturday morning’s parkruns. It was cool and there was no wind. The only problem was that it was pouring down with rain, which certainly had an effect on attendances, with only 181 at Ashton Court and 155 at Little Stoke. Pomphrey Hill was also down on last week. It is pleasing to note that the Bristol & West contingents’ attendances held up very well. At Ashton Court Tom Watkins was the leading club runner, Tom was back on the hill for the first time since winning last year’s Male Points Competition. There was just the one PB from Jennifer Nowecki, who is awarded the Performance of the Week accolade. Elsewhere, Maciej Bialogonski achieved his fourth first finish out of four appearances at Pomphrey Hill. At Chipping Sodbury, Helen Newberry had the unusual distinction of being the overall first finisher (she beat all the men). Helen also set a new female course record of 18.11 with an Age Grade Ranking of 81.39%. Phil Lucker was the first male finisher at Chipping Sodbury. Not for the first time, the club dominated in the VW45-49 age range. Jane Colman, Emma Withers and Sheila Wilcox occupied the first three positions at Ashton Court. This was replicated by Sabrina Patten, Karen Owen and Sarah Everitt at Little Stoke. Karen Watson was first in this age range at Pomphrey Hill. Congratulations to Jonathan Goodland and Maciej Bialogonski who both ran their fiftieth parkruns. Finally, and looking forward to next week, the twentieth club finisher at Ashton Court will complete Bristol & West’s 4,000th run at that venue.
