In the post-competition interview, Ananse was asked how he did it and he said: Monkey smiled when I told him that he was about to get a very important appointment. He laughed when I told him that that appointment was King of the Jungle. To get him to frown, I told him that he would be based in Ghana, and he started crying when I told him that he would be paid in Cedis! A friend of my late father told this story to me in August 1984, over a meal of Eba and Ogbono soup in Enugu! Almost 30 years after that story, here were are arguing over which currency to pay the Black Stars in.
